Three years after Through Chasm, Caves and Titan Woods, Carpathian Forest returned with their debut-full-length, Black Shining Leather.

Here we are knowing a new Carpathian Forest songs and melody, with influencies of other bands out of black metal as Burzum, Mayhem and DarkThrone. but still appreciante as before.

From blast beats and fast tremolo melodies to mid-paced Hellhammer worship to the slower and more methodical arpeggio riffs, reminiscent of Burzum, Carpathian Forest manages to take the listener on a bit of a roller coaster ride. Of course, there are keyboard passages thrown in, here and there, for good measure. They do not always fit into the songs, but they are present, nonetheless

"Black Symphonic Laments & Hymns", pretty self explanatory for this EP. The production of "Through Chasm, Cave And Titan Woods" is very lifeless and cold, freezing the listener in a casket of ice. The atmosphere present on this recording is pure sorrow evoked through Nattefrost's unique and ultra uncomfortable vocals, probably one of the most recognizable voices in black metal
